I've had a number of leg/foot/ankle injuries which have resulted in my having to wear casts and use crutches somewhat frequently over the years. I've had one surgery thus far and might need one more. I discovered at some point that wearing casts and using crutches is somewhat rare nowadays, and I developed an interest in photography of it because it wasn't rare a long time ago when I was growing up. Nowadays most doctors tend to treat these problems more conservatively with less immobilization, with velcro boots and braces. They will often not even put a patient on crutches because they want to get them walking normally ASAP, often before the injury has a chance to heal. Uh, hello, did you even go to med school?! LOL!
