I always loved to take pictures.

I started with a cheap point and shoot camera when I was about 8 years old.

My first 35mm camera was a gift from my uncle Walter, thank you again, which I had for a couple of years until it was stolen in Istanbul. Then the first SLR camera came along.

At the beginning of this millenium I lost track of photography as my work kept my quite busy and also with the dawning age of the digital cameras I did not quite know where to go.

Then in late 2004 I bought a compact digital camera and I discovered the love for photography once again.

Soon there was the desire for something better and so I purchased a Nikon DSLR camera. Now I was back on track and my equipment grew as I moved to Hong Kong.

Finally in 2008 I was back to film again, the only real thing for photos in my opinion.

I love to take pictures with digital and analog cameras. At the moment most of my photos are shot with a Leica and Hasselblad 500CM - I just love the basics.

I use slide, color and black and white film, as well, sometimes, I shot with a digital camera or even a mobile phone. I don't want to restrict myself but to keep this photo stream consistent there will be no mobile phone uploads.

I´m originally from Tirol, Austria but since 2006 I´m living in Hong Kong.

I am pretty new to Ben's photostream, however I have unwittingly become a regular viewer. His photos (be they digital or analogue) are a stunning mix of perfect composition, great light and pin sharp focus . Not has he travelled to some amazing places but he has so whilst capturing those fleeting moments of: joy, loneliness, interest and wonderment that many of us work so hard to get. The essence of the people, culture and atmosphere of each location in wonderfully present in his photos, creating for me a sense of nostalgia, having spent time in many of the same cities (Hong Kong primarily). Really, really great work. Keep it up! Jack
