I'm a mechanical engineer who has fled back to the sanctuary of academia for a few more years away from the real world - reading for a D.Phil. (aka Ph.D.) at the University of Oxford. Photography is therefore a hobby for me and a good way to do something creative and take a break from the analytical world of engineering.
As quickly becomes obvious browsing my stream I like shooting (roughly in preferential order), landscapes, cityscapes, urban and architecture.
I spend hours trawling flickr for inspiration, particularly in those styles above but also enjoy browsing portraits and wildlife shots. For some reason I've never made the leap in to portraits myself... hmmm, one day perhaps.
I just feel that it needs to be said somewhere, that trolling through the Explore pages, pasting the same comment everywhere is a poor way to get noticed. I'm grateful for my contacts who give considered, meaningful comments, commensurate with the notion that they have actually looked at the photo in question.
NOTE: If you reblog my photos to places like Tumblr, my tolerance will stretch only to cases where my flickr username is shown and a link is present.
