Ben is cool enough to dig Moloko and Roisin Murphy and Alice Russell and didn't chastise me for sending him a Martha Reeves and the Vandellas song in the same e-mail as Brad Paisley and John Mayer (though Salsoul received a deafening lack of commentary). He sees a shimmering, almost inviting witches brew in the frigid surface of Griffin Bay and The Lopez Sound, which surround his island community in Washington State, and manages to extract visions of the pearly gates from the low and mirage-like skylines that must occassionally strike him as far too distant. He's impossibly polite, respects women and animals, knows what all the knobs on a digital camera are for,and hasn't accused me of hitting on him (yet). If he were ten years older I'd probably be stalking him.
