a fine art photographer originally from australia, currently based in london, my work varies from staged portraiture and self-portraiture inspired by light, colour, locations, characters, props and costumes, through to images recording my fascination with natural and urban landscapes and details, creatures, and death.
along with two solo exhibitions in melbourne, australia – ‘alternate worlds’ (2007) and ‘simulacrum’ (2010) – my work was shortlisted for the corangamarah art prize in 2008, 2009 and 2010; williamstown festival contemporary art prize 2010; and i was a finalist in the toyota community spirit artist travel award 2009.
i undertook a one month artist residency at hospitalfield in arbroath, scotland, in april / may 2011 to create images to complete my series interior / exterior, and to find new directions with my self-portraiture and photography in general.
my work can regularly be seen in local and online group exhibitions and magazines.
a catalogue of my alternate worlds series is available from my blurb bookstore.
from 17 april 2007 until 16 april 2008 i completed a 366 days project - a self-portrait a day for a year. a selection of the images from the series are featured on my website and 109 images from the series were included in a limited edition self-published book, darkness & light.
i self-published a collection of my portraiture entitled enVisage in july 2009.
my work has been included in two self-published volumes of female self-portraiture featuring a number of international artists: she took her own picture and in her own image, both available through the blurb.com bookstore.
i'm always interested to speak with people who are passionate about photography, writing, film, music and art in general; and am open to offers of collaboration.
if you see my work and think my style would be suited to a group exhibition you are organising, a magazine you may be putting together, might fit with some writing you are doing, or might suit a CD cover for yourself / your band, please contact me through flickrmail or at propaganda@bronwenhyde.com i am also willing to consider offers of gallery representation.

She creates the dreamiest self-portraits of ever. I love every time that she pops up in my contacts' recent uploads. If she didn't live on the other side of the world, I would totally drive down and do photoshoots with her. Damn that Southern Hemisphere!
