The Archives and Special Collections Department of Belk Library serves Elon University and the Elon community by the preservation and administration of manuscript collections, special collections, and institutional materials. The primary purpose of the Archives and Special Collections Department is to collect, maintain, preserve, and make available institutional materials of administrative, fiscal, legal, and historical value. In addition, the Archives and Special Collections Department serves as a repository for manuscript collections, printed materials, photographs, artifacts, and other memorabilia that relate to the history of Elon University.
The nature of the Archives and Special Collections of Belk Library means that copyright or other information about restrictions may be difficult or even impossible to determine despite reasonable efforts. The Archives and Special Collections of Belk Library claims only physical ownership of most materials. The materials from our collections are made available for use in research, teaching, and private study, pursuant to the U.S. Copyright Law.
