I started taking pictures on vacations when I was growing up. Later on, I took a couple of black and white darkroom classes in college. For a while, I had a small black and white darkroom with a small enlarger and a Pentax k1000. I stopped for the most part and went back into point and shoot mode on vacations once or twice a year. I really regret that now. About a decade later, I started taking photos again and had to start from the beginning because forgot almost everything. After taking a few digital classes, and a couple of years of practice, I have excelled beyond where I was before my break. I've still got a way to go but as long as I can "see the light", I'll find the end of the tunnel. I shoot with multiple cameras. I get much better results than the Pentax K 1000(film SLR) I originally learned on. I now am pretty much addicted to photography and sometimes have trouble focusing on anything else, no pun intended. I like to take photos of landscapes, nature, architecture, industrial stuff, abstract, night time, and anything else I see that I like. I really like digital for many reasons but if I have the means someday, I would like to do some large format film. I rather doubt I will return to the traditional 35mm though, it's just too small.

I suppose the main reason I take pictures is an attempt to capture what relaxes me. Wilderness seems to bring me peace and serenity in a stressful and demanding world.
