I've been taking photographs for 50+ years and still learning. I was a caver, climber, and explorer but the old bones won't hack that anymore. So my main interest these days is in wildlife, generally a more gentle pursuit.

My main photographic interest is in insects and in particular butterflies. I take pics of live subjects only, handheld, and mostly in their natural habitat. I do minimum processing in Elements and I do not use stacking or other tricks.

I am not a trained entomologist, just a very enthusiastic amateur, so please forgive me if I occasionally get my id's wrong. If you do spot a mistake please do not hesitate to tell me.

The equipment I currently use is a Nikon D5300 with a Nikkor 105mm macro prime lens. For more distant work I use a Nikkor 18-300mm zoom lens but never for insects.
