One of my greatest hobbies is the fortress of Eben-Emael, a Belgian World War II era fortress built in the 1930's to protect the region of Eben-Emael from a German attack.

The attack eventually came on 10 May 1940, in the early morning hours. A handful of German paratroopers carried by glider planes landed on top of the fortress, taking out the main artillery pieces with a new type of explosive weapon; the shaped charge.

As of 2004, I'm a voluntairy guide at the fortress, giving tours to visitors who come from everywhere. I've had pretty much every European nationality amongst my visitors, as well as American, Chinese, Indian ... visitors.
