Originally from Blantyre in Scotland, moved away in January 2001 to Newport in South Wales, from there to Sunnyvale in California at the beginning of April 2002, then to Londonderry in Northern Ireland in August of 2002. In 2006 changes in my company meant relocating to Aachen in Germany, where I was based but spent 80%+ of the following years travelling the world installing systems and fixing customer problems. A special project dictated a 2 year move to Oregon for 2016-2017, where I resided from Jan 2016 through to mid Sept 2017 with Mireille. We have since returned back to Europe and live in Belgium close to the Germany border near Aachen.

I've worked as a worldwide customer support engineer before moving to various management positions in the semiconductor/thin film head(hard drive)/solar cell/LED and associated industries for a leading edge German equipment manufacturer.

I used to play ice hockey back in Scotland at various levels throughout a 15 year career, the highlights of which were playing for my country on a number of occasions and playing over in Canada. After a 12 year hiatus Mireille convinced me to lace my skates up again, and after a few years of playing hockey for the Pitbulls in Aachen, and during my 21 months in Oregon I was playing 3 games per week in the Elite, Advanced and Over 35 age groups. Upon returning to Europe, I signed with the Blue Elks in Aachen, who play in the cross border Euregio league covering Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, and also with Tiger Koeln who play in the RHL (Rheinland Hockey League) based in the Koeln/Cologne area.

Prior to moving to Germany in 2007 you could find regular photography from me in such automotive magazines as Total Vauxhall, Fast & Modified, Modified Motors, Flat 2 The Mat, XL Magazine as well as local papers, magazines and miscellaneous event flyers/programs.

Since June 2007 my car photography took somewhat of a back seat while I settled into the German way of life, after which I would normally be found taking pictures of landscapes and scenery around the world on my travels with work. Occasional car shoots and reporting from car shows are still being done when magazines approach me and it fits in with my main work schedule.

I didn't know the uglies before I came across this awesome stream but I was in love with their pictures, their stories and their faces within minutes. I spent quite a while looking through the stream and still haven't seen it all but now I am looking forward every day for a new photo in the daily lifes of the uglies. Barry is so talented that it almost makes you believe that they are real! (@ Barry: course WE know that they are) And the stories to the photos are so sweet and creative...cannot wait to see more!
