Flickr is the most amazing celebration of the Universal through the Particular. Yes, there are hundreds of truly spectacular photos on Flickr. But as well there is a gentler honouring of those simple everyday things that make up most people’s lives. Through all the shots of dandelions and teacups, fenceposts and doorways, people express what I call "the dearness of this world". Sharing pictures with people everywhere we also share our lives and begin to understand how others live.
For people with a “photographic eye”, the world is a very rich and rewarding place. When almost everything that you look at is either Beautiful, Wonder-ful, or Interesting in itself or its context, then there is little room for boredom or depression. You don’t even need to actually take photographs - just looking around is enough! Surfing Flickr opens our eyes and enhances our capacity for such a view of the world. I am very grateful to the people who started it, to those who maintain it, and to all the photographers from whom I learn so much.
As well as straight photos, I enjoy making digital "art". Most of these were normal photographs which have been "foto-fiddled" in Photoshop. Some are simply two very different photos, layered on top of each other and then adjusted.
There are not many pics of people here because I share photos of friends and family elsewhere and I don’t like posting recognisable photographs of strangers without permission.
These are some of my favorite photos, not my best
