In my case, my mother died of cancer, eventually, in 1987: also, I have been told I have a blood condition which will probably translate into cancer of one sort or another and I go to hospital for tests twice a year to find out whether it has advanced to the stage where they want to start treating it. I suppose that's living with the threat of cancer...
