All images we post on flickr are copyright Balliol College, Oxford unless noted otherwise. You do not need to request permission to download or print one copy of any of the images for your personal private study or research purposes. You do need to request permission in writing to use any of these images for any publication in any format, including any use on a website
I do nearly all the photography and scanning of images posted here myself, as one part of my job as college archivist and curator of manuscripts; other photographers are noted. I'm not a trained photographer and don't have much time each week for reprographics, but I try to keep the requests list moving. All imaging is done on request, which explains the non-linear order of manuscripts and files appearing online.
Equipment: the scanner is an Epson GT-15000; depending on the item, scan resolutions may vary from 200-600dpi. I used a Nikon Coolpix 7600 camera 2005-2013 and replaced it in October 2013 with a Nikon Coolpix P770.
Please leave a comment to tell us about your interest in Balliol's collections!
We are usually happy to give permission for use of our images, but we would like to hear from you first; we may even have more images and other information that would help your research. Please get in touch.
