The dedication and passion that Pak Gede has for Bali are always explicitly evident in every pictures that he has captured. They so way beyond the beautiful landscapes and majestic temples and explore even more deeply into the real soul of the island found in the people and the culture they so proudly uphold and nurture. Some pictures are worth a million words. Pak Gede blessed with a combination of excellent technical skills and a sharp eye for raw and honest emotions of his surroundings, has shared stories through his extensive collection of inspirational and though provoking pictures. One of my favorite pictures of his, titled "Cremation" could easily mistaken for a cover picture of the National Geographic magazine. All in all, I am very grateful to have him as an excellent ambassador to our country who tirelessly promote to a large audience from accross the globe, and remind us all, how even after recent hardships and turmoil, it remain one of the world's prime tourist destinations.

As being myself a frequent visitor and admirer of Indonesian culture and its people for over 40 years now I very much appreciate all the efforts that I Gede Sanat Kumara puts in promoting the beauty, culture and astonishing arts of this fascinating part of the world. In his photography he not only highlights up the wonders of his home place, the famous island of Gods, Bali, but also is able to show and bring us very near other outstanding places of the Indonesian archipelago, consisting of more than 13 000 islands. A visit to Bali and any place beyond will be an experience not to be forgotten for all your life. I wish I Gede Sanat Kumara also further on all the success he deserves for his great work.

A browse through his photostream and through the groups administered by him are an excellent way to soak up ideas for your visit to Bali, or alternatively (as in my case) to catch up on what you did not manage to see. I felt heartbroken when I visited Bali after the bombings. I found an innocent, warm and spiritual people, so many of whom had directly or indirectly based their lives on tourism, suffering as casualties in a war they had nothing to do with. Even now they have not recovered fully, and have even more problems as a result of poor recent relations between Indonesia and Australia. I Gede Sanat Kumara, is doing great work in promoting the Island of Bali, not just its natural beauty but also real Balinese people, through his own wonderful pictures, and his administration of Bali related photo groups.
