Passionate about Visual Arts
With the urge of more travel. . . & by travel I mean Backpacking. . .you get more out of the adventure
I’ve always been fascinated by the inter relationship between man & nature in a design sense.
I have always had a push to explore the world beyond Australia. I went abroad to learn more about architecture where the rich visual landscapes encouraged me to take my love of photography more seriously. I moved through Europe then onto the Americas & finally Japan, while gaining appreciation for different cultures & how those cultures were reflected in the architecture that I photographed.
Originally, photography was just a hobby for me; in fact I started my career in architectural drafting, Learning the fundamentals of balance, geometry & an eye for detail. I was introduced to the strict laws & principles of design, but right from the very beginning, I’ve approached form & perspective in an uncouth and abstract way.
The most intense photography I have ever experienced was for a local paper back magazine, in Edinburgh, covering the protest in the city’s streets against the Israeli war on the Gaza Strip, in 2009.
The “stand out” cities for me were New York, Berlin & Istanbul. These cities have an amazing vibe; a strong identity & they’re in love with art & design. In these places I was able to create more.
The form and flavour of my photography owes a lot to these cities. I realise now that across my travels I was subconsciously learning a cohesive approach to simply taking a photo of a person & / or subject matter...It’s so important to have a sense a humour during this interaction, not to take your self too seriously, bring a natural element to the picture.
In my Photographic history I have passionately given back to the community, especially Port Adelaide. Throughout the years I have learnt via inspirational Adelaide heroes such as Jan Dalman, Dean Martin & Tim Newbery. On a International level Anton Corbijn.
Over the past 5 years my knowledge & experience has been involved in Photographic Sales. Also developing skills in Real Estate, Wedding Photography & most recently Fine Art Exhibitions.
