Just starting out with a new rig at the ripe age of 44. I used to be a photo addict while I was in the Army. Going to scan those pictures and post eventually.

My favorite camera was "misplaced" during a move and I was so heartbroken I never replaced it. It was a Ricoh 35mm with a Vivitar 75mm-250mm lens, all manual except for a built in light meter. I picked it up when I was in high school; it was the only camera I used for nearly 17 years. After I lost it, I lost interest in photography. Plus, there were some very ugly RL events that caused me to lose interest in a great many things.

My son joined the cross-country track team at his high school, and is doing very well. So I thought, “Wouldn’t it be nice if I had that old camera to take shots of him running?” That’s when I started shopping for a new rig that I could use in low light levels and for bright light high-speed shots. (The boy is fast!) After about a week of shopping and comparing, I settled on a Sony DSC-H20. Like a drug addict whose not had a fix in a while, BANG! I was hooked!

Just one full day with the thing and I have 122 shots & videos on the card. Not much, I know, and not very good images. I work full time and I have to learn the art all over again with a completely new tool. It’s not top of the line, but for the price, it is a great all-around rig for an amateur like me.
