Being a landscape photographer myself, I truly enjoy all the wonderfully scenic images that John has posted in his portfolio here on Flickr. I especially admire and am quite drawn to his Montague Balloon Festival shots, as well as his images of the very Northern regions of California, more specifically, areas in and around Mount Shasta. He specializes in Shasta County but branches out around Northern California. I have learned some local history because his photos inspire me to go online and check out the area. He has an eye for little details that cause the photos to almost come to life. For example , the recent series of the Balloon Festival, were extremely colorful, vivid. and had sharp detail .. I came across John's photostream over a year ago. In addition to living in the same state, we share a lot in our appreciation of photography. I see in his images many of the things that also catch my eye when I'm out in the field. Every time I visit his photostream, I find something new and interesting. I have watched John's photography skills improve from snap-shot shooter to serious photographer over the past year. I'd rather he stayed a snap-shoot shooter, less competition! His hot-air balloon series is incredible. I also really like his images of old buildings, especially his shots in Bodie.
