Ali Young was born and raised in the Greater Toronto area. Young’s photographic work explores the intricacies of the human body and the ways in which humans interact with one another and their environments.

Throughout her BFA degree at the University of British Columbia Okangan, Ali has developed a practice in which she explores her personal concerns and interests through both film and digital photography. Some of these concerns include: the experience of memory, the disintegration of time, the unique characteristics of the human body, and the consequences imposed on human interaction by modern communication technology.

As an extension of Ali Young’s fine art practice, she is also extremely interested in documenting all facets of the evolving human condition through photojournalism. She has worked as a photographer for The Phoenix News at UBCO for three years. Ali combines this passion with her love for travel, for helping others, and her experience working with non-profit organizations.
