AviPhila is a play on "aviphile" -- a person who loves birds

A little about me: I birded casually for over a decade, but didn't start to get serious about bird photography until the pandemic. When the world shut down, Philly's neighborhood parks became a refuge from the stresses of life and work. Many folks don't realize that neighborhood parks, even in a highly developed place like Philly, are still home to a wide range of amazing birds and other wildlife. Unfortunately, the same parks where I took many of these photos face many challenges, from litter and dumping to city-sanctioned deforestation. My hope is that this gallery will encourage us to take better care are our avian neighbors and the parks that they call home.
