I'm a retired software designer. I have interest in history, philosophy, art and music and of course photography. I had my first darkroom experience in 1950 in my parent's bathroom! I owned many cameras, SLR's and others. Got hooked on digital photography and digital PP some 8 year ago, did the Mavicas and the Coolpixes cycles and graduated to my first DSLR the - D80. Less then two months after I purchased my D80, I decided to further upgrade my gear - this time I traded in the D80 for a D300, which is a marvel of technology. I live in Manhattan, I have plenty of time on my hand and love shooting the streets, the buildings and the people. I travel frequently inside the USA, Canada, Europe and Israel. I always take my camera with me.

Avi has a great collection of NYC photos. He has captured people in various stages of action with excellent candid shots around NYC. The shots give you a real feel for city life and also refresh fond memories of the city. Great composition and nice collection of candids. Worth a look.

Avi and I started on this road about the same time and have had similar experiences with some of the same cameras. I was drawn to his work because I have always loved street photography or natural shots of people doing what they do in a natural setting. I have visited NYC but never had my camera or time to do photography. Ari's photos allow me to experience and absorb the beauty of the interactions of a myriad of people, dress, ethnicities, ages, all walks of life in a stream of images that never tire me. His photos are completely different from normal family type photos or simple travelog shots taken to evoke a memory of places been and things done. They are a classroom of that other world I cannot experience in flesh and blood but I can get the feeling, the mood, the action (reaction) of real people in a real place and know the hustle and bustle of life that passes into his camera and back on my computer screen. It is almost like being there...as close as I can be...and I am in my own home in West Texas. I would like to think that people who see my photos feel the same. They can experience places they have never been and may never get to see. Yet, through these images they have been there. I truly appreciate Ari's gifts that enrich my life. Study each of his images and you will experience life on the street.
