My interest in the arts developed early as a child. My Father was a talented painter, sketch artist and photographer who graduated from the Center For Creative Studies in Detroit, MI with honors in. He instilled a love of creativity in me and since then I have been interested in the arts, particularly the visual arts. Throughout grade school and HS I was involved in several different art programs including photography and graphic arts. I was also enrolled in the Talented and Gifted art program in the Plymouth Canton school district and it was wile enrolled in this program that one of my pieces, a ink print of a tropical bird joined the district permanent traveling art display. By the time I reached HS I had a good idea of the field I wanted to enter upon graduation and I took mostly art classes including radio and TV production, photography and creative writing. After HS I attended Full Sail University in Winter Park FL where I obtained a Specialized Associates Degree in Film and Video Production and graduated with honors with the Course Directors Award in Creative Writing.
Although I eventually entered the Corporate Rental Staging field which did allow me to continue my love of video and graphic production to a degree, it was a bit of a departure from the more traditional creative arts I had always be involved with. In 2003 I purchased my first digital camera and soon after picked up a copy of Scott Kelby’s The Digital Photography Book. I was hooked and continued to practice photography as a hobby. Shortly after my daughter was born in 2010 I decided to get more serious about a creative outlet and in particular photography. I continued to self educate myself on digital photography techniques, the digital darkroom and also studied the masters of the field and their work in an effort to continue to develop my skills.
I have come to the conclusion that the more I learn the less I know and that my development in the craft of photography and pictorial arts will be a life long quest. I will never truly arrive as a master photographer as I will always be developing my skills and learning more about my craft.
