Drag to set position!
Located in Montgomery, Alabama the Auburn University Montgomery Library provides access to information resources to support the curriculum and research needs of AUM’s students, faculty and staff. We facilitate lifelong learning within the AUM community by teaching the information literacy skills necessary to effectively locate, evaluate, and use information. The Library assists in providing for the informational needs of the greater Montgomery community and the TriCounty area.
The AUM Library is housed in a two-phase building complex which includes a ten-story tower. The library collections contain about 270,000 books and 1600 periodical subscriptions. The Library also has extensive collections of documents and periodicals on microfilm, a growing collection of manuscripts and archival materials, a collection of audiovisual materials, and several databases on CD-ROM. The CD-ROM databases provide access to U.S. census data and journal citations in the fields of education, psychology, nursing, business, and literature. There is a computer link to the library catalog of Auburn University in Auburn and a CD-ROM catalog of the library holdings for many of the other libraries, public and academic, in the state of Alabama.
The Library is a federal documents depository with over one million publications dating from the mid-nineteenth century to the present. The Library supplements these resources by providing interlibrary loan services for faculty and students. AUM Library is a member of OCLC, an international on-line bibliographic database with about 31 million records, and SOLINET (Southeastern Library Network).
The Library reference service offers bibliographic instruction for upper level classes to assist students in beginning a research project. The library faculty and staff also provide individual assistance to students in locating information, using CD-ROM databases, and using microform readers.
The Library seats almost 700 and includes closed study carrels, a carrel with a machine to assist those with visual difficulties, and a classroom. It is staffed by a capable, friendly staff of professional librarians and paraprofessionals who are ready to help you.
