No photograph shows reality. From the moment the photographer frames his subject in the viewfinder, he filters out a certain truth. He imposes a subjective thought, a suggestive gesture.

 

An image is determined by a point of view of a specific moment chosen in time by an operator, the photographer. It is reductive of the space it frames. What is absent from the frame has no value, because no observer knows what it hides. On the other hand, what is inside the frame can encourage the observer to fantasize what may lie outside the frame.

 

A photograph solicits not only human eye, it also calls to the perception that the brain will make of it. The photographer’s eye must not only learn to see in the manner of a camera but must know how the image will be perceived by the human brain.

 

The intention of a photographer is manifested in each photograph but no one can deny that the fate of these images are linked to the interpretations and understanding of each observer.

 

A photographer is a manipulator. The elements he decides to include in his photograph, and those he chooses to exclude, will convey his message. At it's best, a powerful image will filter misinterpretations and reveal only the suggestive intent(s) of the photographer.

 

Once a a photographer publishes his images, new intentions emerge. Some seek notoriety, others popularity, others interaction, others reflection. As for me, I prefer reflection, the one of a critic, who tells me whether or not I have reach my goal.

I have created some Galleries that honor the works of some Flickr users. I chose to group them into categories according to informative themes that can benefit everyone. You will find constructive analysis in those I cherish the most. It’s up to you to benefit from them or not.

Aucune photographie n’affiche la réalité. Dès le moment où le photographe cadre son sujet dans le viseur, il filtre une certaine vérité. Il impose une pensée subjective, un geste suggestif.

 

Une image est déterminée par un point de vue d'un moment spécifique choisi dans le temps par un opérateur, le photographe. Elle est réductrice de l’espace qu’elle cadre. Ce qui est absent du cadre n’a aucune valeur, car aucun observateur ne sait ce qu’il cache. Par contre, ce qui est à l’intérieur du cadre peut inciter l’observateur à fabuler ce qui peut bien se trouver à l’extérieur du cadre.

 

Une photographie ne s’adresse pas seulement à l’œil humain, elle fait appel à la perception qu’en fera le cerveau. L’œil du photographe doit non seulement apprendre à voir à la façon d’une caméra mais il doit connaître comment l’image sera perçue par le cerveau humain.

 

L’intention d’un photographe se manifeste dans chaque photographie mais nul ne peut nier que le destin de ces images sont liées aux interprétations et la compréhension de chaque observateur.

 

Le photographe est un manipulateur. Les éléments qu'il décide d'inclure dans ses photographies, et ceux qu'il choisi d'exclure, transmettra son message. À son meilleur, une puissante image filtrera les mésinterprétations et ne révélera que l'intention suggestive du photographe.

 

Une fois qu'un photographe diffuse ses images, de nouvelles intentions se manifestent. Certains cherchent la notoriété, d’autres la popularité, d’autres l’interaction, d’autres la réflexion. Quant à moi je préfère de loin la réflexion, celle d’une critique, celle qui me dit si j’ai atteint ou pas mon objectif.
