I have studied astronomy since my teens, and I am mostly self taught. I am also a space travel and space exploration enthusiast. My current, and most serious study of astronomy began in 2012, when I purchased my first real telescope, and joined the Howard Astronomical League (HAL). Prior to establishing this Flickr account, I thought that I had only dabbled in photography, but I when I started uploading photos to this account I discovered that I had produced quite a few astrophotos that I believe are worth sharing. As my interest in astophotography remains high, I hope to share even more astrophotos in the future.
My narrative work in astronomy is at www.jrjohnson.net. More detailed descriptions and analysis of some work displayed here can be found on my personal website.
Some of my other astronomical endeavors have included president and secretary (two years each) of HAL, and adjunct professor of astronomy at Howard Community College in Columbia, MD.
