I’m an almost 50(ish) dad to 5 amazing children (television was rubbish where I live), two of whom I’m lucky to share this passion for the night sky with, and who constantly ask me questions about the beauty above us in those stars.
I’m also lucky that although I work in retail in the UK, my boss and the colleagues I work with are greatly supportive of what I do outside of the workplace. So they tend to understand that if I pull an all-nighter then I’m not at my best at work. There’s talk about setting me up a coffee IV line at work for those days….
For me, being out under the night sky and being able to gaze upon them and take images is an almost spiritual experience. You can feel the worries of the day drop away and allow you to connect to the greater world all around us in a way that very few are privileged enough to achieve. For this, for the opportunity to be able to do that, I am eternally grateful, and my hope is that as I progress through this journey, my humble attempts to capture that world might inspire someone else, and that others might gain a greater understanding and appreciation of what nature has seen to gift us.
