I was thinking about my philosophy and style. I can articulate what it mostly isn't.
It isn't:
• News photography or video
• Landscape or still life or scenes without people
• Posed portraits
• Technical excellence isn't a requirement.
Generally not much post processing or Photoshopping. I only use simple software. My style is street photography, often in black and white and generally stills. I like to find contradictions and chance repetition. I am influenced by anti-art, terms from the last century, Dada and Surrealism. I strive to find the scene that generates a feeling of being there in the viewer. Another was if saying it would be a sense of place or occasion. These are the hardest to achieve.
The latest cameras make it easier to achieve technical excellence, particularly the higher film speeds that enable hand held photography in light that would previously requires flash.
