My name is Ashok Bagdy. I have spent many years as an executive working in information technology and international business. Notably, I studied computer and information science at Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where I earned a Master of Science in Management Information Systems and graduated in the top 10 percent of my class. During this time, I functioned as a Client Support Specialist at Temple University’s Business School Computer Lab. In this role, I advised students and staff on network management, various aspects of work processing, and graphics applications.
After leaving Temple University, I landed a position at The Hay Group in Philadelphia. I spent two years as a Database Administrator and another two years as the Senior Database Administrator. My primary concern was maintaining pension valuation and pension calculation databases on the company’s management system, used by 40 consultants across the globe. I handled database management, which entailed the installation, configuration, and operation of the system. During backups, I made decisions on backup cycles, operations, and storage, as well as ensuring backup integrity.
As a database administrator, I also handled failure recovery issues. I diagnosed any problems with the system and developed recovery programs accordingly. If the server went off-line, I brought it back online and recovered data from backups as necessary. I also managed corrupt data. Another key part of my position was user administration, in which I set up user rights and passwords for authorized individuals. I also supervised database performance management and optimization.
Since then, I have gained much experience in information technology as it is used in international business. I currently serve as the Vice President of Outsourcing Services at Cameo Corporate Services.
