I was born in Clarksville, Tennessee back in late 1993. My mother’s name is Brinda Davis and my father’s name is Kevin Davis. I grew up with my mother and my two siblings Rachelle and Christopher. I grew up without knowing my father. I actually just met him over the previous summer for the first time. Along with meeting him I got to meet my two year old half brother, my grandparents and my stepmom.

I grew up mostly on the west coast, but we moved around a lot. I’d say most of my childhood was spent in Washington. Specifically a dinky little town called South bend. With a population of 2000, all that South Bend really has to be proud of is that they are ‘the oyster capital of the world!’ and they sure will let you know all about that. I grew up with nothing surrounding me but friends, a dirt road and a stinky bay that we sometimes were brave enough to swim in during the summer. There, we lived in at least six different places. My mom was notorious for couch crashing. We stayed with her friends, boyfriends and strangers. It wasn’t until I met my best friend Chelsea that I really got a break from it all. She was, and still is in some respects, my only escape.

Long story short we moved to Oregon, to another unpleasantly small town called Sweet home. We lived here for a couple of years but by now both my sister and brother had moved out. Sweet home was a rough time for me, so I think that’s when I really fell into art.

I have always used writing as an escape. During this time I wrote nonstop. I usually write poems or short stories. It wasn’t until we moved to Vancouver for a couple of months that I picked up a camera, determined to shoot, for the first time. I started with film photography, and fell in love with the entire process. I then saved up some money and bought myself a small digital camera. Since then I’ve loved photography and every day I try to get better and learn more. I hope to pursue writing or photography, and ideally I’d love to pursue both and create a career out of them.

ADDITIONS TO MY BIO

So there’s my bio up there, but I have been growing and changing since I wrote that. After reading my bio again I feel like I was almost complaining. I don’t think that was my intention, but to me it comes across that way.

Currently I am going through some big changes. I just got a job, bought myself a car, and now I am graduating and heading into adulthood full force. It all feels a little bitter-sweet, but I am certainly ready to move on.

Photography is still a passion of mine and will remain one in my adult life. I wake up every day feeling so much love for the people around me and the opportunities I have had. Today I will appreciate the fact that I can express myself through writing, and through photography.
