I post this cancer ribbon in honor of my flickr friend, gem66, a rare gem indeed.

A bit about me: I guess you could say I live in the past. I love all things old....houses, signs, businesses, books, illustration, records, advertising, schools, libraries, people, etc. I am an obnoxiously diehard preservationist. I also love NPR and the fine arts...music, dance, live theater & the visual arts. I play piano, and grew up in the world of classical music, but also have a great passion for jazz (not smooth jazz, but Miles, Trane, Cannonball, Diz, Bird, the Duke, Mingus, Oscar Peterson and many, many others).

I am the administrator, co-admin or a moderator of the following groups:

Kids' Records

Mother Goose Illustration

Vintage Home Interiors

Vintage Magazine Home Interiors

Sugar House, Salt Lake City

Mondo Utah

Utah Signs

My photography is strictly amatuerish, done mostly in the spirit of documenting places I've seen and enjoyed, since I am very sentimental and my world seems to be always be changing at a rapid pace. I also have a large collection of ephemera and vintage / antique children's books that I enjoy sharing. The scanned images that I post are from my private collection, not harvested from the web. While I love sharing, I believe sharing is a two-way street. Please don't add me as a contact or 'fave' my images unless you have a profile and images of your own to share. Please respect the time, effort and expense that went into collecting and scanning these images. Enjoy them, but do not harvest them for commercial use or to repost as your own collection. I'm always glad to meet like-minded people on Flickr who get excited by nostalgic images the way I do.

Note: I've done a bit of housekeeping lately, removing contacts where there has seldom been contact, or if you haven't uploaded anything new in quite a while. No offense intended if I removed you: I just like to keep my contacts at a fairly low number so that I have time to make it around to everyone's 'streams. If you start contacting me, I may add you again!

I have really slowed down the pace of adding contacts. Don' t be offended if I don't add you...there just aren't enough hours in the day. I'll try to stop by your photostream if you have stopped by mine. BE SURE TO VIEW MY LARGE LIST OF FAVORITES FOR SOME GREAT IMAGES (YOURS ARE PROBABLY AMONG THEM)!

One of my first flickr friends, Ellie is just a SweetiePie! My first view of many vintage books is thanks to this lady. I adore her Mother Goose group. From a huge grand opera of a family, she must have learned sharing & caring from the get-go AND we on flickr get to enjoy the fine legacy of her upbringing in her m… Read more

From a huge grand opera of a family, she must have learned sharing & caring from the get-go AND we on flickr get to enjoy the fine legacy of her upbringing in her many and beautiful posts and comments :-) If I ever get out west, she'd be the first person I'd want to meet (and not just because of her library :-) (I wish this lady lived in Baltimore so I could borrow her books Award :-)
