Been taking photos since I was a child but never formally trained. Pinhole camera, instamatics, disc, all before leaving grade school.
First real camera was a Minolta Maxxum 5000 & 7000. Many miles were put on those before I got a photography 'job' taking family photos w/ a Mamiya c220. Had s bunch of early digitals by Kodak, Canon before I splurged on a Nikon D70 but as the tech got better I lost interest in the race and many years later thought that a Canon G12 would be a good compromise. It didn't take long before I knew I needed a real camera and just bought the Nikon D600 to utilize some of the glass from the D70. Falling in love w/ photography again!
2015: I had the dreaded oil splatter shutter issue w/ the d600 and after many attempts to clean myself I sent it out to Nikon and they 'upgraded' the shutter to the D610 model. While it was in the shop I bought a Sony a6000 to hold me over and I hardly touch the Nikon anymore. Really enjoy the mirrorless tech with the live view viewfinder and the ability to utilize all types of vintage glass. All my Minolta glass, my aunts Konicas and the Nikons are very usable and create unique images. Now I want a fullframe Sony!
I screwup more than I hit the mark it seems. In my mind I see the image but it hardly ever translates. Other times I'm pleasantly surprised by the results!
My best images seem to come from passion. Whether its the love of my life, my sweet cats, the beauty of the outdoors or being uplifted by music.
