BACKGROUND

'Artists on the Walkpath' was created in 2006 as an opportunity for artists to create artworks for the public to enjoy and draw attention to the number of creative people living in the area.

 

'Artists on the Walkpath' has continued as an artist run initiative for subsequent years. Projects have occurred in 2006, 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014.

 

THE PROJECT

'Artists on the Walkpath' : Contemporary artists create temporary sculptural or art installations that respond to the local bush environment. Artists ensure the artworks do not harm the surroundings and is setup for one weekend only.

 

Those involved have included professional artists and arts workers through to emerging artists and tertiary students.

 

The project aims to provide art for the enjoyment, surprise and interest of the community and to promote artists living in the region.

 

Both riverside locations used for 'Artists on the Walkpath' are located in the City of Bayswater on the banks of the Swan River, Western Australia.

 

'Artists on the Walkpath' is sponsored by the City of Bayswater www.bayswater.wa.gov.au/ and is part of the Autumn River Festival.

2015 Exhibiting artists are; Joanna Sulkowski, Jo Haythornthwaite, Liz Adorno, Marie Hammat, Carolyn McIntosh, Andy Faraday, Dean Morris, Stephen Genovese, Gabi Mazalevskis and Selga Esots.
