With his eye for shapes and lines, his instinct for transformative light and an uncanny skill with great timing, SomeDriftwood's work makes me look at ordinary things in a different way. All this, and he makes me laugh, too. The talented swine.

I was first attracted to AJP's photography because of the strong feeling that I got of his sense of a place, Liverpool and Merseyside, but my respect for him, his mind, his talent, has grown far far beyond that. His work shrinks oceans and eliminates borders. I've watched him grow as a photographer, witnessed his embrace of the film medium that was my, necessary, introduction to photography, decades ago. The passersby in his photographs aren't just elements in interesting compositions, but are fellow citizens in our world, a world that AJP has managed to make both closer and richer. AJP maybe Merseyside's incarnation of Cartier Bresson, look carefully at his images and you will notice how "passersby' form an intrinsic part of his compositions. He looks, he sees, he shoots resulting in images which have unforced moments of brilliance. Add him as a contact and expect the unexpected

I am so glad to have found ArthurJohnPicton's photostream, because everytime I look at it I feel inspired. His photos are really wonderful records of his environment, he certainly does Liverpool proud through them. He shows the bleak and the glorious, usually making the bleak look fabulously glorious anyway. Dee
