El dibujo es mi más antiguo amor, una amante fiel a la cual visito a hurtadillas desde que tengo memoria, puede ser en medio de una importante reunión de trabajo, puede ser frente a la inmensidad del océano pacifico asomado a mi ventana en Valparaíso, en mi cama antes de dormir, en la mesa de la cocina, en cualquier escritorio o superficie que pueda cobijar un papel, en cualquier lugar donde el deseo de líneas, de trazos, de achurados y texturas me excite la mano y me arroje hacia la hoja blanca, la pluma y la tinta. Es un amor al que me aproximo y me alejo de modo intermitente.

Mi profesión es arquitecto, mi ocupación y otro de mis amores, la docencia de la arquitectura.

Drawing is my first and most enduring love, a faithful lover I have been visiting on the sly for as long as I can remember and from wherever I find myself—during an important meeting at work, facing the immensity of the Pacific Ocean from my window in Valparaíso, in bed before I fall sleep, at the kitchen table, on any desk or vertical surface that can hold a piece of paper—and whenever the desire for strokes, lines, hatchings, and textures awakens my hand and pitches me toward the blank page, a pen, and ink. Sometimes I am closer to this love, and sometimes farther away.

I am an architect by profession; my job, and another of my passions, is to teach architecture.
