I first picked up a real camera, a Minolta SR101 with a 50mm f1.4 lens, in 1975, just after starting my first job out of college as an electrical engineer. Soon after, I started doing some darkroom work at home, black and white and Cibachrome color.

Since retirement in 2010, I've been trying to do more photography and travel more. I also spent several years as a volunteer ranger and wildland firefighter at Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Florida. Additionally, I have been teaching courses for the United States Power Squadrons, running the educational program for, and acting as the official photographer for the Palm Beach Sail & Power Squadron and District 8 (southern Florida). All of this has gotten me to take more pictures - more than I can easily process. In the last year, I've been included in photo exhibitions in Vancouver, Barcelona, Athens, Paris, Washington D.C., Mexico City, and Milan.
