Galia Durant is one half of duo Psapp who put toytronica firmly on the map when they landed the award winning theme tune to Grey’s Anatomy as well as releasing three critically acclaimed albums for Domino Records.

 

Not content with her musical prowess, Galia’s ever fertile mind and crayoning hand sprouted a parallel Psapp universe filled with monochromatic cats, imaginary keyboards and friendly monsters that walked their way onto album covers, T-shirts and animated videos.

 

This led to a host of illustrative commissions ranging from condom packets, postcards, a limited edition T-shirt for cult design agency Airside, comic strips for magazines and newspapers and even some illustrated jewellery.

 

Galia has created murals and art installations in France for Agnes B, been artist in residence for a day at The ICA as part of Little Pencil, a drawing workshop for children, followed by Heavy Pencil, a live drawing event and exhibited her drawings in a variety of London galleries.

 

She was also the brains behind Craft Night at the Notting Hill Arts Club which was featured on the BBC Culture Show, The Guardian etc and for which she masterminded unlikely crafts for heavy drinkers and curated music and comedy for the scissorati.

 

Most recently she completed illustrations for a children’s poetry book, “The Roaring Rainbow” and created a shop front design for Stoke Newington's coolest toy shop; Olive Loves Alfie, featuring a host of friendly monsters riding scooters. She also sells her work at The Jealous Gallery alongside likes of Peter Blake and Gavin Turk.

 

She is currently obsessed with biscuits; making music using their crumbs and crinkly packets and creating a series of large format pen and ink screen prints of biscuit and alphabet monsters for discerning children.

 

Her prints range in price from £15 to £100 and she also takes special commissions.

 

In her spare time she likes to clear up baby vomit and play with brightly coloured plastic trucks.
