About my Photography:

I was born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona. The desert landscape, full of wide open spaces and mountains coupled with the sprawling built environment have shaped my view of the world. The constant harsh sunlight provides lots of color, contrast and shadows for capturing. My subjects can usually fall into two categories: wide angle views to capture the overall feeling of a site for memory; and close-up tightly framed details that give a more tactile sensory recording of a place. The locations include both natural landscapes and urban environments.

Arrangements & Assemblages

My work is composed of collage and mixed media pieces that attempt to capture fleeting moments, places and emotions. Ephemera from magazines, newspapers, brochures and other sources is combined with glue and sometimes paint to form a new expression. The process is an evolutionary journey using many layers, textures, shapes and colors. An element of chance is embraced thru tearing and peeling layers away in order to be reused in another way. Finally the piece is complete. Look closely and you will see each is made up of many significant details that coalesce to form the whole.
