Andrea Butje's teaching is based on her own life changing, in-depth experience with essential oils. She studied with many inspiring teachers in England, France and the US; works directly with distillers in Ethiopia, South Africa, Madagascar, Indonesia, Spain, England, and France.

Andrea has been teaching courses in the therapeutic uses of essential oils since 1996. She is the co-founder of the Finger Lakes School of Massage in Ithaca N.Y. Andrea developed and teaches a scientifically based 200-hour and 400-hour Aromatherapy Certification Program approved by the National Association for Holistic Aromatherapy. In addition to teaching she travels abroad to meet small farmers and distillers of essential oils.

Her travels through the lavender fields in France deepened her interest and appreciation of the plants themselves and the process of distillation. She learned the process of importing quality essential oils, directly from distillers around the world, and through owning and managing a retail aromatherapy business selling high quality essential oils.

She has participated and taught at international aromatherapy conferences, as well as developed and implemented essential oil courses for spas and massage schools.
