Ich bin Biologe und Ökologe im Ruhestand. Beruflich war ich in einem Naturkundemuseum und im Naturschutz tätig. Seit meiner Kindheit bin ich ambitionierter Hobbyfotograf. Dabei war dokumentarische Naturfotografie im Makrobereich für lange Zeit mein Schwerpunkt. Speziell fotografierte ich zum Beispiel Biologie und Verhalten einiger Grab- und Wegwespen. Inzwischen interessiere ich mich für die Fotografie in ihrer ganzen Breite und historischen Dimension. Derzeit arbeite ich fast nur noch mit alten manuellen Objektiven aus der Ära der analogen Fotografie. Das ergibt eine erstaunlich andere Sicht auf die Welt und all die Dinge. Oft ist da Schlichtheit und mehr Lebendigkeit in den Bildern.

 

I am a retired biologist and ecologist. Professionally, I worked in a natural history museum and in nature conservation. I have been an ambitious amateur photographer since my childhood. In this context documentary nature photography in the macro range was my main focus for a long time. For example, I particularly photographed the biology and behaviour of some digger wasps and spider hunting wasps. In the meantime, I have become interested in photography in all its broadness and historical dimension. At the moment, I work almost exclusively with old manual lenses from the era of analogue photography. This results in an amazingly different view of the world and all things. There is often simplicity and more liveliness in the pictures.
