I enjoy using a bit of the HDR effect, but employ it as a layer and ‘dial it back’. The intensity of that effect is a little ‘over the top’ for me. I use what the computer can add but don’t welcome that it will ‘take over’ and make its presence so... obvious. If you can allow, for example, that a tea kettle can have unmoored itself from a stovetop it might look like it came from a dream if it doesn’t appear to have done so with assistance from a computer program. I have used P’shop in so many images it’s hard to believe that I could make any claims of ‘digital editing’ not being present in any of my Flickr pix. I’m not issuing instructions just affirming what it is I do in preparing the images I put up on Flickr.com.

I hope it’s understood that I don’t ever mean to show: Look at what my computer is showing you!! I exploit that the eye may be more comfortable with being cajoled, or at the very least ‘deceived’, rather than being shown what is simply captured by the camera lens.
