About flickr group pools
* I don't join so-called "awards" groups that require members to post comments on several pictures of other members in the pool, bestow meaningless awards or invite more members into the group. We're not doing that.
* I rarely join *any kind* of flickr group pools, because almost all flickr groups suck
To have any chance of persuading me to join your group pool or add any of my items to it, here is what I deem reasonable qualification---
1) Before leaving invites on pictures in my stream, *make social contact with me first*. Post some comments on some of my pictures and chat with me so we can get a feel for one another. The alternative is if I've met you in somebody else's stream then pop the question in conversation and I'll check out your group first before I make a decision.
2) If you only fave my pictures and never leave any comments on them---not even one---then forget it, you've Buckley's and no chance of endearing me to you or your group(s), mmkay?
3) In the rare event I actually join your group(s) * please don't post any awards glittery tat or froth in my stream. Things like gold Oscar statuettes are a form of visual pollution I don't want. Face it: neither you nor I nor any of the people in your group are famous Hollywood actors or academy members at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion sipping Dom Perrier and all that jazz and golden glittery razamatazz. The truth is *if you're running a flickr awards group you're a microbe*, and you've insulated yourself with a crowd of other microbes who conflate high viewing stats and the ability to post worms on the internet with being famous.
Other stuff
* Dick me around or engage me in nonsensical conversation(s) in my stream and I'll give you a game of verbal hardball before I block you. Often I don't even bother blocking and prefer to go on torturing you verbally, *because I really enjoy debating and arguing*, especially moral debates, since I'm a moral philosopher and I'm real good at it.
* I'm 55, so please don't talk to me like I'm a 16 year old
* I'm a male Alien and I yoosta be married to an Earth woman, but that's old news now.

Jimmy James hardly ever does donuts with his motorcycle in my living room. I don't think you could say the same about most people. That is why Jimi is special: special like Santa as an astronaut. A specialness that can barely be comprehended let alone pronounced. Jimi has special way of making letters, numerals, punctuation and tea. 3 cheers for the great Jimi. All bow in his presence and anoint him with various salad dressings. Spare a crouton and enjoy with wonderful imagery.

James has a terrific eye for form and detail, and he makes tasty, witty typefaces. They make me want to find projects to use them in. He is also a font of type wit and wisdom. I've learned a lot from him; I've worked with type most of my professional life, but until recently I was content to not to make any glaring mistakes. Then I needed to learn more. I needed to know how digital type is made, how it works and what, if anything, makes one font better than another. A surprisingly contentious subject in which James' voice has been informed, balanced, witty and respectful.
