Some dates to remember:

 

1826 - The world's first photograph taken.

 

1838 - World's first daguerrotype (type of photograph/process) by the French.

 

1856 - Introduction of flexible film, printing from glass plates

 

1867 - Halftone prints appear in weekly magazines, reproduction printed from a block that created the picture with black dots.

 

1880 - Halftone reproduction appears in daily newspapers(later giving rise to photojournalism).

 

1885 - The rise of photo agencies.

 

1890 - Photojournalism begins.

 

1891 - The moving picture camera gets moving.

 

One of the key events photographed early on was weddings.
