I photograph birds in the places where local people are working to keep them. Every hummingbird, tanager and sunset here comes from time spent with communities that chose to protect their forests instead of selling them off, and my photos help show travelers why those places are worth visiting.

It started when I was a boy traveling to Venezuela with my father, and it has shaped how I work ever since: I'm there as a witness, not a tourist.
