Appalachian Voices works at the nexus of America’s ongoing shift from dirty energy to solar, wind and other 21st-century energy sources. We defend Central and Southern Appalachia from mountaintop removal coal mining, fracked-gas pipeline building, and other harmful practices while promoting clean energy sources that generate local jobs and community wealth and that sustain our region's incomparable natural heritage.

Founded in 1997, we are headquartered in Boone, N.C. with offices in Charlottesville, Va., Norton, Va., and Knoxville, Tenn. We are proud members of The Alliance for Appalachia, Blueprint North Carolina, Clean Water Network, North Carolina Conservation Network and the Wise Energy for Virginia Coalition.
