I found the photography of Layne/Applecrisp while searching for visual reference on Portola, CA - a small town in the Sierra Nevada. Immediately I was drawn into her excellent images from all over the golden state. Places I have seen & even more places that I have yet to see. She allows me to feature several of her shots on my web site Total Escape - totalescape.com. Finally I had the pleasure of meeting Layne with her husband on Christmas 2008, when I made a holiday vacation through Redding. They showed me the sundial bridge & it was the most memorable, sunny afternoon of my entire road trip. Great to make friends w/ Flickr!

Apple Crisp has been a constant source of inspiration to my growth as a photographer. Living in a big Canadian city, I find my eye is drawn to all things urban, sometimes at the expense of neglecting the natural world. After viewing some of her shots I will feel like I can't do anything else until I take a walk through the woods or along the shore and I am always refreshed after I do. If I were to think of three words or phrases that describe AC as I have gotten to know her through Flickr, I would say she is down to earth, a remarkable artist/artisan (photography/guitar making) and has a gentle sense of humour.
