Dr. Apparao Mukkamala was an alumnus of both Andhra Loyola College in Vijayawada and Guntur Medical College, Andhra University. Currently based in Flint, MI, he became the president of the Michigan State Medical Society in 2007. In addition, he is a clinical professor of radiology at the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and was the primary founder of the NRI Medical Center and Medical School in Andhra Pradesh, India, and co-founder (along with his wife) of Chinmaya Vijaya Orphanage.
