APAD – A Photo A Day

I have started this photo stream on 12. January 2008, see my first photo.

I think it all began when I saw this photo stream: one pic a day. I was fascinated by the dedication and the wonderful shots from 1pic and decided to try it as well.

Since then, I have continued to shoot a photo every day. I have completed the Project 365 and have continued because I did not know why to stop.

As a self-taught photographer, I have first shot with point-and-shoot cameras such as the Panasonic Lumix fx33 but this did not satisfy me and I started to use an entry-level digital SLR (Canon 350D). I am continuing to explore photography and now use

Leica M systems (Leica M6 and Leica M8) and some excellent lenses (and sold most of my previous gear). I like both digital and analog worlds although analog photography is getting more and more difficult here in the Netherlands.

This is not a documentary work or a diary, although it could be seen as such sometimes. It's all done without agenda; I shoot what I see, I wander with my camera and take pictures without a specific point of view.

I mainly shoot for myself. However, I am happy when you like my work, look at it and place a comment.

Shooting a photo a day is a journey. It helps to learn a lot about photography but mostly about yourself and your limitations. Looking back the last months, I have never regretted this project and have loved it ever since.

It's better you don't say anything about a photo a day... just watch! The pictures are fantastic!
