Photography has always been a major part of my life, I was first captivated by it at the age of 12, when I was given an Olympus Rangefinder camera. I started working at a local photographer’s on Saturdays at the age of 13 and often went in after school, just to learn a little more.

I had my own darkroom in a garden shed that was bought by my parents and there, equipped with my Gnome Beta enlarger, my Patterson Developing trays all sat on my home-made table, I began to create ‘images in the dark’

At the tender age of 14 I photographed my first wedding at the Registry office in Northampton, using a Russian Zenit E camera and a Sunpak flash. The first one was absolutely terrifying, it felt like an eternity waiting for my films to be processed, so that I could check the results and relax.

Over time it became less worrying, but there was never any real absolution from the risk of catastrophe. As an adult, photography began to take a back seat as other factors took priority, but it always remained a very active part of my life, although opportunities to demonstrate my skills were still arising frequently.

Years later, my collection of images has grown, along with opportunity to be more involved. I now produce images for re-sale, Landscapes and Travel amongst others and I photograph many different subjects and occasions. The digital age has made the art of Photography more accessible than ever, with move from traditional Darkroom to Digital Darkroom, presenting new opportunity and challenges.
