From the early 1890s until the late1920s English Archaeologist Prof. Thomas Ashby (who was also one of the first Director’s of the British School at Rome) was one of the first non-Italian scholars to photograph in detail the amazing archaeological & Cultural wonders of Rome and the surrounding region of Latium. The amazing collection of photographs of contemporary Rome made available online by Mr. Anthony M. comes the closest in comparison to the amazing collection of photographic documentation of Rome compiled by Prof. Ashby nearly a century ago!
