I’d like to paint a portrait

Of the world outside my door.

For ev’ry day there’s less of it

When really, we need more.

From the oh so subtle textures

On the artwork that’s a tree

From the hues and tones of insects

And the flight birds, wild and free.

The cacophony of colour,

In their chatter, squalks and calls,

Soft feather, fin and insect wing,

I can’t help love them all.

When ev’ry day’s another day

To breathe the heady scent

Of forest dew and eucalypt

And days outdoor well spent.

To softly walk amongst the fern,

To rest amongst the reed,

To pause in awe as creatures rare

emerge with care to feed.

I want to take you with me

To lead each weary soul

Outside into this wonderland

That surely makes us whole.

I wish for you wild moments.

When the clear wind stirs the trees

When your mind is lost in nature

And your soul is flying free.
