My work is concerned with the processes of painting, not producing photographic tableaux but instead refracting and distorting reality to reveal something potentially more sincere - the purpose or meaning behind the visual.

I would classify my work as surrealist in its influences but I try desperately to stay away from pure symbolism and the literal, instead experimenting with mark making, and trying to infer a deeper significance through the mark itself.

I hope to continue to develop and refine my style and improve my technical skills. Having practiced independently I hope to engage with a wider range of dsciplines in a university course - particularly film and sculpture. I also love history of art so I would love to broaden my knowledge and contextual awareness.

In the future I aim to progress to a master's degree, and hopefully one day lecture in art while continuing to practice.
